Barn Conversion Builder
For those that know me as a barn conversion builder you will know one of my favourite jobs is to renovate an old barn. The obvious reasons are to see a few bits of stone and some rotten wood turned into an amazing property. The less obvious resons are the challenges any barn conversion can bring which has helped build our specialist team over many years.
My latest project is this lovely barn in Ford Street in Somerset. Ford Street is a small hamlet at the foot of the Blackdown Hills near Devon. The end project will be a beautiful 2 bed barn conversion. The 6 month journey starts with underpinning, one of the most common jobs for a barn renovation.
As most properties the foundations are crucial to ensure a solid property for years to come. Underpinning is a time consuming job but will provide us the ability to build new walls around and lay the floors for the renovation.
In addition to underpinning another common theme with barn conversion builds involve bats! Old buildings are often home to bats and we have to be careful to protect them during the build. We follow bat conservation guidelines and plan how to move them.
The barn conversion build will include a new roof, 2 bedrooms, a kitchen and bathroom as well as open plan living.
