Barn Conversion TIVERTON DEVON
Grade II Listed Property, Tiverton, Devon
N.B Construction successfully delivered the sensitive conversion of a Grade II listed barn in Tiverton, Devon, located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The project required a careful balance between preserving the building’s historic character and introducing high-quality modern living spaces, all while navigating strict planning and conservation constraints.
Working closely with the client, local planners, and conservation officers, we helped resolve complex planning restrictions to achieve approval for the transformation. The completed home now provides three well-proportioned bedrooms and a spacious open-plan living area that maximises natural light and countryside views.
Key features include a traditional slate roof in keeping with the original structure, floor-to-ceiling picture windows that frame the surrounding landscape, and discreetly integrated underfloor heating throughout for modern comfort. Original architectural elements were retained where possible, ensuring the conversion respects the heritage of the building while delivering a contemporary, energy-efficient home.
This project demonstrates N.B Construction’s expertise in listed building works, planning negotiation, and high-quality rural conversions within protected landscapes.
